This project showcased full-service contemporary design for a vibrant inner-city Wellington apartment, filled with light, color, and striking form. Our clients approached us with a mix of excitement and nerves about their recent ‘off-the-plan’ purchase and their upcoming move from a spacious suburban home to a cozy two-bedroom city apartment. They sought our guidance to transform this new space into a place they could truly love and feel at home in—one that reassured them they hadn’t made the wrong decision. We embraced the blank canvas as a gallery, a carefully curated space for their cherished art and objects. Their collection of artwork, along with a wall-to-wall library and a few framed photos, were the only items they brought into this new chapter—making these pieces the heart and soul of the interior. It was essential to us that the design reflected their personalities. Using their art as inspiration, we crafted a lively, spirited space that delights the senses and offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere every time they walk through the door. We chose new sofas that emphasize design and comfort: a bold mustard yellow Togo in the media room and a sleek B&B Italia Tufty Time sofa in the bright, airy living area. These pieces, complemented by clean-lined rugs, modern lighting, and stylish occasional chairs, create a harmonious balance of color, contrast, and cohesion. The result is a space that feels effortless yet vividly personalized, where art and interior design seamlessly intertwine to inspire and invite.
