A noisy office, restaurant or workplace can be frustrating and unproductive. This can be a result of sound moving through a space in many different ways which can impact our experience.
A noisy office, restaurant or workplace can be frustrating and unproductive. This can be a result of sound moving through a space in many different ways which can impact our experience.
If you’re looking to improve the sound of your space, the first port of call is acoustic testing. Acoustic testing provides the information needed to effectively solve the issues…
Decisions can be confidently made about what is needed to control the way sound is reflected, diffused, and absorbed in the space. Thus improving the acoustic performance and the environment for everyone.
What Is Acoustic Testing?
Acoustic testing lets you determine how well your space is currently performing and find a solution to suit your needs.
Testing technology provides the science behind proposals to ensure the solution suits specific budgets and acoustic requirements.
It helps guide proposals to diminish unpleasant levels of noise from traffic, neighbours, music, and other sources. Acoustic testing assists manufacturers to determine how to design products that create the best acoustic materials for a space.
To assess your space, acoustic testing measures the Reverberation Time (RT). Reverberation time is the time required for a sound to fade away in a closed space.
The national standard for RT is between 0.7 and 1 seconds, but many older buildings’ RT far exceeds this. If the space’s RT is too high, it will be almost unusable due to the amount of echo.
Each space is different, making it difficult to predict how sound waves will react within it. The acoustics of a room will depend on the size and shape of the room and what materials are used on the floor, walls and ceiling.
As part of an Acoustic Appraisal, acoustic testing can help determine the right way to balance, soften, disperse and diffuse the sound to reduce unpleasant echo and distortion. Once the acoustic testing and appraisal are completed for your space, an acoustic expert can determine the most effective acoustic solution for the best quality sound in your space.
