Air and Moisture Control — Made Simple and Robust

Wall wraps are critical for controlling air infiltration and bulk water resistance while allowing vapour diffusion to manage condensation risk. In New Zealand conditions, a high performing, vapour permeable air barrier helps the wall assembly dry without sacrificing airtightness — supporting durability and occupant comfort.

Introducing Sopraseal Stick VP

Sopraseal Stick VP is a self‑adhered, vapour‑permeable, water‑resistive air barrier for modern timber or steel framing. Its high‑tack adhesive and no‑primer installation facilitate rapid, secure application to common substrates (plywood, OSB, exterior gypsum, concrete, masonry, and metal), reducing penetrations and installation errors.

Why vapour‑permeable? Evidence shows that increasing membrane permeance beyond ~10 perms provides diminishing returns for drying while potentially increasing inward vapour drive; the key is balanced permeability alongside excellent air sealing and adhesion — precisely where Sopraseal Stick VP excels.

Key Benefits

• Continuous air barrier to reduce uncontrolled leakage and moisture risks.
• Self‑adhered, no primer, fewer mechanical fasteners, faster installation.
• UV exposure window for construction sequencing (up to 180 days).
• High tear strength and low‑temperature flexibility to withstand site handling and weather.
• Cost‑Effective Performance – Delivers premium air and moisture control at a competitive price point compared with similar vapour‑permeable membranes, offering excellent value without compromising quality.
• Aligns with NZBC performance expectations.

Part of Equus’s whole‑envelope commitment: Adding Sopraseal Stick VP to our range strengthens our promise to provide compatible, system‑based solutions across the building envelope — simplifying specification, junction detailing, and accountability from design through completion.

Installation & Integration

Sopraseal Stick VP’s self‑adhesion simplifies corners and penetrations and provides continuity across the membrane. It integrates with Equus roofing, below‑ground waterproofing, and insulation to reduce compatibility risks at junctions.

Where enhanced thermal performance is required, Sopraseal Stick VP pairs effectively with mineral wool insulation for walls (specified through Equus). In those cases, thermal efficiency and H1 Energy Efficiency objectives are addressed by the insulation design, while Sopraseal Stick VP maintains airtightness and moisture management.

Applications

• Residential, commercial, and mixed-use façades.
• Timber and steel framing systems.
• Projects seeking improved airtightness, moisture control, and construction efficiency.
