All-in-one access solutions with dormakaba

Security and accessibility are increasingly paramount concerns within commercial or residential construction, with people taking into account innovative access solutions and, therefore, becoming integral to the design and functionality of the project. With a wealth of experience in the industry, dormakaba has quickly become one of the world’s leading access solutions providers, constantly pushing the boundaries on the new and improved.

“When it came to access control, DORMA and kaba were the two powerhouses. So, in 2015, it made sense to merge the companies; that merger meant that we could keep the wealth of knowledge and heritage behind the two companies but extend our expertise as a whole and give us a bigger umbrella. Now we are a complete solution-providing market.”

“Our automatic doors, for instance, can handle anything from standard glass to 30mm thick glass, which is quite thick. We are the only company that can do that. This capability has earned us a reputation for reliability and technical excellence,” explains Armand.

This level of innovation extends to their entire product range, which includes revolving doors, e-gates, access control systems and more. Their ability to offer such a diverse array of solutions makes them a one-stop shop for all access and security needs.

“We don't just help you with installing or supplying; we look at a whole building and see what we can offer and what we can make better.”

“When we engage with a project, our focus is on understanding the specific requirements of the building. From commercial establishments to nursing homes, each setting demands a unique approach to security and accessibility. Our expertise lies in evaluating existing hardware and recommending solutions that meet regulatory standards and cater to the practical needs of occupants.”

“We are committed to enhancing accessibility in all spaces we serve. Whether integrating automated solutions for disabled access or providing systems that streamline ticketing and security at public venues, dormakaba ensures inclusivity and convenience.”

Another standout feature of dormakaba is its commitment and emphasis on maintenance.

“People often don’t realise the importance of maintaining these systems. It’s similar to servicing a car – if you neglect it, it won’t perform well and could even pose safety risks. Our goal is to ensure that the systems we install remain in top condition throughout their lifecycle,” says Armand.

dormakaba offers comprehensive product maintenance services, including regular checks and prompt repairs where required, using locally available spare parts. This means downtime is reduced, and smooth operating systems are prioritised and ensured.

“We have about 44 technicians on the road, each carrying a substantial inventory of spare parts. This allows us to fix issues on the spot, which is something our competitors often can’t do because they need to wait for parts to be shipped in,” Armand notes.

Continuing to expand its portfolio of access control solutions, dormakaba takes on high-profile projects and pushes the boundaries of what’s already possible.

“Our approach combines technical expertise, quality products, and a strong emphasis on proper maintenance. This ensures that we remain a trusted partner in the security and access solutions industry,” Armand concludes.

dormakaba’s approach to building safety and accessibility, combined with their commitment to quality and local support, sets them apart in the market. By prioritising proper specification, regular maintenance and client education, they provide reliable and cost-effective solutions in the long run. As they continue to innovate and expand, dormakaba is poised to remain a leader in the access solutions industry for years to come.
