Certified Installers & Nationwide Coverage: How Ambitec Supports Consistent Design Across New Zealand

Specifying a polished plaster or architectural wall finish is only one part of the process. How those materials are applied has a direct impact on how they appear in the finished space.

Small variations in pressure, timing, or technique during installation can subtly influence the tone, texture, and reflectivity of a surface. For architects and designers, this means the success of your specification depends heavily on the skill of the installer.

Leaving the final outcome to interpretation introduces a level of risk that no project can afford. So, how can you minimise that risk and ensure the finished result matches your design intent?

A simple and effective approach is to require a final sample panel in the specified colour, texture, and finish. Ideally, this should be produced in a 600 × 600 mm format (or a sample wall on larger projects), then reviewed and signed off by all project stakeholders. This ensures alignment before installation begins and allows adjustments to be made early, avoiding costly rework later.

Why Installation Defines the Outcome

Unlike uniform coatings, polished plaster is applied by hand. Each pass of the trowel contributes to the character of the surface, and even small differences in technique can result in visible variation.

This makes installation an integral part of the overall design process, not just a finishing step.

To ensure consistency, Ambitec works with a certified network of plaster applicators across New Zealand. These installers are trained in specific Ambitec systems and finishes, with a deep understanding of how surfaces behave under different lighting conditions and within varied spatial contexts.

Through this network, architects and designers can specify with confidence, knowing their design intent will be delivered consistently, regardless of the installer or project location.

Supporting Architects and Designers Nationwide

For practices delivering projects across multiple regions, the challenge is not only sourcing an installer, but ensuring consistent outcomes from one site to another.

Ambitec’s certified installer network addresses this by ensuring all approved applicators are trained to deliver the full range of Ambitec finishes. Rather than reinterpreting specifications on every project, installers operate from a shared technical framework and application standard.

This reduces variability, minimises on-site corrections, and ensures continuity across projects.

Whether your project is based in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Queenstown, finishes can be replicated with precision, maintaining their intended aesthetic and material quality across different environments.
