Designer Rugs has announced a new Axminster carpet collection with House of Heras, bringing a richly layered, design-led offering to the commercial market. Drawing on Art Deco influences and reinterpreting them for contemporary interiors, the collection has been developed for hospitality, workplace, retail and other commercial settings where both visual impact and performance matter.

The launch reflects growing demand for flooring that does more than serve a practical role. With bold pattern, refined structure and depth of colour, the new collection is designed to help shape the character of a space from the ground up. According to Designer Rugs, the range balances decorative expression with the durability required for high-traffic environments.

House of Heras founder and designer Silvana Azzi Heras said the collection explores the tension between softness and structure. “It was important that the designs felt expressive and atmospheric but also disciplined enough to work beautifully across commercial interiors,” she said. “Art Deco offered that balance, bringing geometry, rhythm and elegance to motifs inspired by nature and ornament.”

A clear example of that approach can be seen at Grappa in The Rocks, where the design was developed as part of the broader interior vision. Rather than being introduced at the end of the fit-out, the carpet helped establish the direction of the upstairs dining space, influencing surrounding finishes, tones and detailing throughout the venue.

Azzi Heras said the Grappa project demonstrated the value of bringing flooring into the design process early. “When the carpet is considered from the beginning, it can become part of the identity of a space rather than simply a surface,” she said. “At Grappa, the final design and colourway informed so many later decisions, which gave the interior a strong sense of cohesion.”

The project also highlights one of the collection’s key strengths: customisation. Designer Rugs offers custom Axminster carpet solutions for commercial spaces, allowing designers, architects and clients to tailor patterns, scale and colourways to suit the needs of each project. That flexibility makes the collection relevant across a broad range of applications, from boutique hospitality venues to large public and client-facing environments.

According to Designer Rugs, this custom offering is central to its commercial approach. “No two interiors ask for exactly the same response,” a Designer Rugs Lia Pielli, Senior Designer said. “Our Axminster capability allows us to work closely with the design community to create flooring solutions that feel specific to the project, while meeting the technical and aesthetic requirements of commercial use.”

That level of adaptation is increasingly important as commercial interiors place more value on identity, atmosphere and brand expression. In this context, the new Axminster collection with House of Heras is positioned not simply as a product release, but as a design resource for more tailored outcomes.

With its combination of Art Deco influence, contemporary application and custom flexibility, the collection offers a distinctive new option for specifiers seeking character, cohesion and performance in one flooring solution.
