Juken New Zealand Ltd (JNL) has recently undergone a significant change in our Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) (FSC® C013648 & FSC® C210401) certification structure. Previously operating under a single FSC Forest Management certificate, JNL has now split this into two separate certificates to improve operational clarity and align more closely with FSC’s updated standards.
The decision to divide the certified management unit reflects JNL’s commitment to sustainable forest management and its responsiveness to evolving regulatory and stakeholder expectations. Each certificate now covers distinct forest management units, allowing for more tailored oversight and reporting. This change enhances transparency and enables more precise environmental and social performance tracking across JNL’s diverse forest holdings.
The split also aligns with the updated FSC Forest Stewardship Standard for New Zealand, which was issued in 2024. This standard emphasises key issues such as protecting waterways, erosion control, and culturally appropriate engagement. By restructuring its certification, JNL is better positioned to meet these rigorous requirements and demonstrate its leadership in responsible forestry.
The dual certification structure is expected to facilitate more effective audits and continuous improvement in forest management practices.
As global demand for sustainably sourced timber grows, JNL’s proactive approach reinforces our reputation as a responsible forest manager and strengthens access to domestic and international markets that prioritize certified wood products.
Both our J-Frame and Triboard products are FSC CoC certified, reinforcing JNL’s commitment to sustainable forestry and responsible sourcing throughout our engineered wood range.
