Picture this: a breathtakingly beautiful natural pattern that you don’t get with a lot of artificial materials. When it comes to marble, the spotlight is on the dazzling charm of white marble. There’s nothing in nature as pure and pristine as white marble. The color and intricate detailing of white marble are unmatched by any other natural stone—making it a true standout in the world.

Indulge in the luxury of top-tier marbles, like the renowned gems hailing from Carrara, Italy; Calacatta, Emperador and Marquina – which are all dense and relatively nonporous.

Now, before you dive headfirst into marble mania, keep in mind that while it’s a go-to for tabletops, it’s not without its quirks, it’s not a perfect product.

Beware, any acidic liquid like lemon juice or vinegar will etch away at the surface and leave a dull, whitish mark, even after the marble has been sealed.

This doesn’t mean you need to completely ride off marble, it’s about being informed and knowing how to care for it, as it’s made to last a lifetime! This material can be a showstopper in your home, and our team at Fanuli can expertly help you in selecting the best colour and finish depending on how you want to care for it and look in years to come.

It’s important to remember marble is a natural material so no two pieces will ever look the same, but that’s the beauty of it and you need to embrace the imperfections.

If you’re concerned about stains, select white marble; Carrara or Calacatta.

The aftermath of acid etching is way more conspicuous on colored marble compared to its white counterpart, thanks to the telltale whitish marks. There’s a cautious approach when it comes to opting for dark marble, however, it ultimately boils down to a personal choice.

You can transform the look of marble with different finishes.

The options of the glossy allure of polished, and the subdued elegance of honed have the power to give completely different looks and feelings in a room.

Polished marble will evoke a more formal, classic look, whereas a honed matt finish will give off feelings of subtle elegance.

If the prospect of acid etching has you on edge, we recommend you lean towards a honed finish. On a polished surface, etching can dim its shine and become more noticeable. In contrast, with a honed finish, you’re essentially dulling an already subdued surface, cleverly camouflaging any potential etching.

Maintaining your marble

If marble does fall victim to a stain, fear not! The beauty of marble lies in its ability to be sanded down or polished anew. Unlike many other materials, which may be irreversibly damaged, marble allows for a fresh start even after the toughest challenges.

Marble is a durable and enduring material that exudes elegance and transcends design trends.
