In 2025, the fireplace industry is shifting away from gas and toward electric connected BEV fireplaces. Learn why real flame, flueless, Net Zero solutions are shaping the future of modern heating.
Why Decoflame Is Leading the Future of Real Flame, Net Zero Heating
In 2025, the global fireplace market is undergoing a decisive shift. Architects, designers, builders, and homeowners are moving rapidly away from traditional gas fireplaces and toward electric connected BEV (Burning Ethanol Vapour) fireplaces. This growth is being driven by tightening energy regulations, the decline of natural gas infrastructure, and rising demand for real flame fireplaces that align with Net Zero and all-electric building strategies.
At the forefront of this transformation is Decoflame, whose electric connected BEV fireplaces are redefining what modern fireplaces can deliver: real flames, real heat, zero flue requirements, and seamless electric connectivity.
BEV Fireplaces: One of the Fastest-Growing Fireplace Technologies in 2025
Electric connected BEV fireplaces are now one of the fastest-growing fireplace categories globally. Unlike traditional electric fireplaces that rely on simulated flames, BEV fireplaces produce a real flame created from Burning Ethanol Vapour, offering the visual authenticity of gas without the environmental, regulatory, or installation drawbacks.
Key drivers behind BEV growth in 2025 include:
Global and local movement toward Net Zero buildings
Accelerated gas phase-outs across residential and commercial construction
Increased adoption of all-electric homes and apartments
Demand for flexible, flueless fireplace solutions
Strong preference for real flame over imitation flame technology
As a result, BEV fireplaces are now being specified across luxury homes, multi-residential developments, hospitality projects, and commercial spaces.
Real Flame and Real Heat — Without Gas or a Flue
One of the most common misconceptions is that electric fireplaces cannot provide meaningful heat. Electric connected BEV fireplaces have changed this entirely.
What BEV Fireplaces Deliver:
Real flame (not LED or holographic)
Real heat output capable of warming:
50 square metres in smaller spaces
Up to 225+ square metres in larger living areas
Consistent, controllable warmth suitable for primary living zones
Unlike gas fireplaces, BEV fireplaces do not require:
A natural gas or LPG connection
Flues, chimneys, or ventilation
Combustion air or ducting
Structural penetrations
This makes BEV fireplaces ideal for modern construction, renovations, apartments, and architectural designs where gas infrastructure is unavailable or undesirable.
Electric Connected Simplicity: Designed for Modern Buildings
Electric connected BEV fireplaces operate using a standard electrical connection, making them perfectly suited to the next generation of buildings.
Installation Advantages:
Electrical connection only
No gas certification
No flue or chimney
No ventilation requirements
Faster installation timelines
Greater freedom in fireplace placement
For architects and builders, this translates into design flexibility, reduced coordination complexity, and lower installation risk. For homeowners, it means a premium fireplace experience without long-term dependency on gas networks.
Why Architects and Designers Are Specifying BEV Fireplaces in 2025
Architects and interior designers are increasingly specifying BEV fireplaces because they align with both design intent and environmental responsibility.
Key Specification Benefits:
Seamless integration into all-electric and Net Zero homes
Clean, minimal aesthetics with no visible flue constraints
Compatibility with smart home systems
Scalable solutions for single residences or multi-unit developments
Compliance with evolving building standards
Decoflame supports specifiers with technical documentation, CAD drawings, installation manuals, and project consultation, making BEV fireplaces easy to specify at scale.

BEV Fireplaces vs Gas Fireplaces in 2025
When compared directly, electric connected BEV fireplaces clearly outperform gas fireplaces for modern applications:
No gas infrastructure required
No flue or ventilation
Lower installation complexity
Greater placement flexibility
Alignment with Net Zero and sustainability goals
Real flame and real heat output
For many projects in 2025, gas fireplaces are no longer the logical or future-proof solution.
The Future of Fireplaces Is Electric, Real Flame, and Net Zero
The growth of electric connected BEV fireplaces is not a short-term trend — it represents a structural shift in how fireplaces are designed, specified, and installed.
As governments, developers, and homeowners continue to prioritise sustainability, flexibility, and performance, BEV fireplaces are becoming the preferred real flame heating solution.
With its Danish engineering heritage, global leadership, and advanced BEV technology, Decoflame is defining the future of fireplaces in Australia and worldwide.
