Native to NZ. A wetland reed, but will grow in normal conditions. Has fine grey/green leaves and brownish bracts. Forms a large, densely erect clump with a slow, creeping rhizome. Needs full sun. Prefers wet soils. Tolerates wind, saline soils and coastal exposure. Hardy. Evergreen.

Recommended spacing = 1.2m.
