Euro Birch Multi-ply | Joinery Plywood

Euro Birch (Betula pendula) is valued for its face quality, and fine multi-ply edge grain detail, and is used primarily in high-end architectural applications.

It is constructed using carefully selected Euro Birch veneer to create a premium decorative panel. The rotary cut veneer faces are without joints to ensure a consistent high quality finish. Excellent for an HPL substrate.

The surface of Birch plywood is free of defects which gives it a smooth surface and strong screw holding power. It is suitable for construction projects where a special strength material is required. Its attractive side profile makes it a highly decorative feature of natural wood, which enables builders to use it for constructing premium furniture.

Scope of Use

  • Architectural linings

Limitations on Use

  • Birch Plywood has a Moisture Resistant Glue line meaning it can be used in wet areas
  • Not Marine Grade and cannot be used for exterior applications
  • This is a product used for decorative work only and cannot be used for a structural element

The Birch B/BB grading means that while both faces are free of knots, the 2nd face will often have minor computer repairs so face selection when machining or fixing the sheets is essential.

Plywood is a natural product that can be affected by changes in weather conditions: moisture and temperature. Increased moisture content or temperature variation may cause internal stresses causing previously flat sheets to bow. At Plymasters precautions are taken to minimise this effect. However, once the plywood has left the warehouse Plymasters cannot guarantee sheets to remain flat unless fastened. This is particularly important where free standing kitchen/cabinet doors are concerned. When storing panels, stack on a firm raised base with enough support to prevent sagging. Cover the pallet to protect top and edges.
