Handrail Brackets Care and Maintenance

Depending on the material, finish, and application, handrail brackets care and maintenance instruction may vary. On average, occasional cleaning is sufficient. 

The best way to clean metal balustrade accessories is to wipe them with a gentle cloth. It’s also possible to use a mild cleaning solution when necessary. Harsh abrasives and strong chemical cleaners should be avoided, particularly for cleaning matte black, white, or brass brackets.

As with all kinds of fittings, heavy use might cause the handrail brackets to loosen over time, particularly if handled as support around wall and ceiling hatches. In such a case, it’s advised first to inspect the connections and make sure everything is properly fitted into its place. All fasteners can then be retightened gently. In case of resistance, it’s good to recheck the holes for any obstacles rather than forcing pressure that might damage the components.

Some bracket models can be easily de-mounted, which is convenient for transporting furniture pieces and other large objects. Then it’s possible to attach them back or relocate entirely. 

Just like all other metal accessories, handrail brackets can be used outdoors if a protective clear coat is applied, or the material is resistant to rust and corrosion. Black and white brackets typically feature a coat of paint that is protective by itself. Most models are safe for use in dry or mild climates; however, it’s best to follow specific manufacturer’s instructions regarding applications in areas with a lot of humidity. 

In any case, exposure to sunlight and elements will probably lead to a certain degree of fading over time.
