LED Neon vs Neon Signs

Mounting Neon Lights

Trough Style Lettering

This mounting style is usually for text. The lettering is made from weathered steel or aluminium and then painted. Neon wall lights or a neon lamp can fit through the trough which glows when lighted.

Acrylic Panel

This panel usually comes in a standard shape or can be cut to outline one. With this mounting option, neon light signs can have a more industrial appeal because of the visible connecting cables and transformer on the sides. They come in transparent or coloured forms and can be used as desired.

Powder-Coated Panel

This method provides the sleekest visuals because it hides all the connecting wires. The metalworks are powder-coated to a standard RAL colour and then mounted on the surface of a box. 

Vinyl-Coated Panel

The panel can be metal or acrylic and is ideally suited for more complex designs. Different effects can also be set up behind the light to give it more appeal. 

Acrylic Box

The neon can be mounted on a simple shaped panel, which can be cut to the approximate shape of a design. Coloured or clear acrylic can be used which give off an industrial look due to the visibility of the cables and transformer. Neon light boxes can add a modern to any space.

Types of Neon Lighting Transformers

Electronic Neon Transformers

Ideally suited for indoor use, these are comparatively smaller in size and the voltage is self-regulated. Available in black or white, some of these can be dimmed as well. These transformers need to be located at least 1 to 1.5 m from the tubes.

Resin Block

The resin blocks are larger, weigh more, and need to be placed in a well-ventilated area. Best suited for outdoor use, they give off a slight buzzing sound when in use. They can easily be set up far away from the neon wall lights.

Sustainability

A neon tube light is eco-friendly because it is made from glass and inert gases. They are durable and long-lasting. All the components of this type of light are completely recyclable. These lights are energy-efficient and can produce a massive 60 lumens per watt.

Care & Maintenance

The maintenance of the illuminated signs is fairly easy and only requires a regular dusting of the tubes with a soft feather duster. This helps to keep signs and neon lamps shining brightly. The tubes can also be cleaned with warm soapy water every once in a while to remove any grime.
