Siena glass balustrade for the ocean-facing decks and stairs, paired with Ascot framed balustrade on the areas facing away from the water, on a multi-level beachfront property in Wellington. The homeowner approached an authorised UNEX fabricator, Supreme Balustrades, for a high-end balustrade solution to cover decks across multiple levels, along with integrated gates and handrails. Siena glass balustrade was chosen for the ocean-facing decks, stairs, and pool deck, selected for its durability and strength against a coastal climate, and for its cost-effectiveness relative to other outdoor materials. The glass balustrades were installed to meet pool fence regulations and the NZ Building Code, with Supreme Balustrades fitting UNEX gates using a top-pull pool gate latch, a self-engaging moulded polymer magnetic latch that offers no resistance to the self-closing mechanism required for pool compliance. Ascot framed balustrade with baluster infill was used on the decks facing away from the ocean, giving those areas a more minimalist, classic look. The finished balustrade package covers the property's full range of outdoor spaces, from open ocean-facing decks to more private areas, while meeting pool safety compliance throughout.
