Originally a weatherboard cottage, this property has been renovated to create a stylish and modern home for a young family of four on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The original beach cottage character of the house has been maintained from the front, with the floorplan cleverly configured by ViewThru. It has been transformed into a modern split-level design with large windows that frame the garden views and soaring ceilings that capture plenty of natural light. The light and bright interior by Christina Prescott Design features timber floors throughout and pops of colour and texture that reflect the coastal bush setting.

Expella’s products have been used to ventilate the two bathrooms and a laundry. The main bathroom, with a cathedral ceiling and skylights has no openable windows so ventilation was key to ensure a moisture and odour free environment. With limited ceiling space for services in this bathroom, the Linear Slot Grille was installed on the bathroom wall providing an extraction point for the EMF Inline Fan that ducts air to the house exterior. With the main bathroom also functioning as a guest bathroom, the Milu Mod Odourless In-wall toilet ensures embarrassing smells are kept at bay with the Odourless by Expella system extracting odour directly from the toilet bowl.

Pictured left, the Linear Slot Grille is wall mounted to work with the cathedral ceilings in the main bathroom. Pictured right: Milu Mod in-wall toilet and cistern with Odourless by Expella.

The master ensuite features another Milu Odourless toilet, while damp air is extracted through Expella’s award winning Shadowline Diffuser Pro for a steam free bathroom. EMF Inline fans are installed inside the ceiling and quietly provide the air extraction power for the ensuite and laundry.

Professional Reviews

“Wes and the Expella team have grown with our practice over the last decade, and Alexander House was an excellent opportunity to bring Expella, and their suite of products into our showcase. Their ventilation solutions are without peer. Their service, support and follow through are extraordinary. There isn’t a project that we do, that we would do without Expella.”
