Ancestral reimagines a former Blockbuster Video store into an enchanting homage to French Concession era Shanghai, featuring a captivating internal courtyard that invites exploration and reveals its hidden beauty over time.
Drawing inspiration from the opulence and mystique of French Concession era Shanghai, Ancestral transformed an old 500sqm Blockbuster Video store into the exotic, hidden heart of the Orient. By turning its back on the street front and inserting a large internal courtyard at the rear of the building, Ancestral creates an intoxicating, multi-layered environment that rewards its intrepid and loyal patrons, unfolding over time to reveal its true beauty.
