Atelier Workplace Interior blends contemporary design with heritage elegance, creating a luxurious yet functional workspace for Richards Partners Brand Agency, featuring hand-crafted elements and unique personal touches.
Located at in the heritage Magistrates building in Auckland city, New Zealand, the Atelier workplace interior for Richards Partners Brand Agency is a stunning example of contemporary design meeting heritage elegance. This beautifully crafted space is the result of a highly collaborative and fast-paced project, brought to life by passionate clients, designers, and craftsmen.
The brief was to create an ambience reminiscent of a luxury private club, incorporating key design elements such as spatial flow, context, texture, light, and shadow. The team achieved this by employing a contemporary classic insertion, using authentic finishes and hand crafting wherever possible. The steel glass screen was hand welded, and the original stone and concrete floors were carefully honed and stained, paying homage to the building's heritage.
The original curved windows are a standout feature, allowing for fantastic play of light and shadow throughout the day. To soften the stone and timber surfaces, fabrics in curtains and sumptuous velvet furniture were used, creating a luxurious yet intimate atmosphere. The furniture was carefully chosen to enhance the space, mixing both period and contemporary design for a modern office with large amounts of hidden storage and engine printing room tucked away behind curtains.
Personal touches were added throughout the space, including hand carved chairs from the Pitcairn Islands, Persian rugs that tell stories of ancient times, and NZ craft objects by leading designers. These unique elements not only add to the space but also reflect the client's personality. The result is a space that feels like a small atelier or private apartment rather than a busy office, making it an ideal setting for clients to experience the Richards Partners Brand Agency.
In response to the heritage nature of the building, we took the approach of a contemporary classic insertion employing authentic finishes. We used hand crafting where possible; the steel glass screen was hand welded, and the original stone and concrete floors were carefully honed and stained.
Photographed by Logan Tran, this stunning project is a testament to the power of collaboration and exceptional design, creating a truly unique and functional workspace that sets a new standard for luxury offices.
