Our client provided clear instructions to create a home that exudes a blend of contemporary 70s aesthetics with a modern twist, all without structural modifications. They emphasized the importance of retaining the glass bricks in the kitchen dining area, considering them a hallmark of the home's original design.

Commencing with the design phase, we opted to introduce bulkheads in the living area to allow for the installation of ceiling speakers and a dropdown projector screen in front of the window. Given the mono pitch roof design, this adjustment was necessary to accommodate these features. Additionally, we incorporated a built-in shelf to house the ethanol fire that the clients had already purchased. In the kitchen, we relocated it to the opposite side of the space, integrating a walk-in pantry, built-in fridge, and a television above the area.

The chosen colour scheme blended Dulux Aoraki Half with a custom PNC Pearl White shade. To evoke a 70s ambiance, a Wilton cut pile carpet was selected to provide a shaggy appearance, complemented by timber floors to enhance the overall aesthetic.

One of the primary challenges we encountered was preserving and seamlessly integrating the glass bricks, which ultimately became a striking focal point of the design.
