Tailor Inc led the design for repositioning the existing Coast Plaza in Whangaparaoa.

The significant upgrade included the interior common areas, customer amenities and extended into the town square area with new hard landscaping, building claddings, branding and wayfinding to improve the overall environment and customer experience.

With an emphasis on local, the architecture is in character and in keeping with Coast customers relaxed lifestyles, appealing to retailers and customers alike.

In the interior common areas, loose furniture pieces and feature lighting have been introduced to encourage visitors to relax.

In the exterior mallscape, “The Cove” comprises of new eateries around the perimeter and food trucks towards the centre. A covered seating area and a children’s play space has transformed the townsquare into a place for people to gather and socialise.

Together with the retail leasing and strategy in place for the Centre, the rejuvenation of the common areas was aimed to increase foot traffic and become a new destination for both locals and shopper visiting Whangaparaoa.
