Having presented my clients two design options, their original ideas and my alternative design, we quickly narrowed it down to the alternative design. This was chosen due to better functionality, multiple accessible work zones, and overall appearance.

The kitchen now caters for 3 or 4 people working within the space, has seating and serving areas to the rear of the bar, along with storage and display cabinets. Working zones include, but are not limited to, baking, serving, prep/clean up, cooking, and coAee.

Storage has been majorly improved and can be accessed without impeding work zones or entrance to the kitchen. Both tall pantries have pocket sliders, internal drawers and lighting, providing easily accessible storage which benefits from the doors sliding away when opened. Base cabinets have mitred top edges with servo drives openers and hidden internal drawers, creating clean lines and meeting the clients’ specific storage requirements.

Dekton Sirius, specified for its aesthetic practicality, also contrasts with colours chosen without detracting from the all-important Rangitoto splashback. A solid timber overlay looks visually appealing, creates a perfect serving zone and compliments the wood eAect cabinet highlights. It can be moved to any side of the bar, depending on clients requirements. The original Woodsmiths logo also ties in with the unique client created woodsaw light feature.

This kitchen was all about detail, understanding the clients’ requirements then surpassing them. It was not about features for features sake; every item specified was discussed, evaluated and chosen with great deliberateness.

If you visit their stunning showroom at William Pickering Drive, you can't help be inspired by the quality of the kitchens on display.

Karen says, "The kitchen is probably the most important room in any home. That's why our kitchen transformation process starts with you in your home. We want to understand you and your family's needs, so we can help you create your dream kitchen".

Paul added, "I'm very proud of what we've achieved on the Shore, our clients demand excellence and, that's what our team lives for".
