Set on the outskirts of Melbourne’s northern suburbs, the Diggers Rest Hotel redevelopment provides a unique opportunity to restore one of Victoria’s most historically significant buildings and integrate it with a new piece of modern architecture. The existing 157-year-old hotel that was tragically burnt down, will be rebuilt retaining its historical use and heritage façade. The hotel site itself is much larger and the location forms part of the gateway to the Melton shire from the Calder Highway.

The site will also comprise a new larger luxury Hotel situated behind the original building with rooms overlooking a vineyard, a large pool and terrace for guests to enjoy, distillery and small orchard with farm provedores and cellar door.

In addition to the Hotel, the scheme includes an events space positioned between the gardens and the lake, providing guests with impressive views.

This hotel redevelopment concept aims to attract both day trippers and the local community and as diggers rest does not have a main street the hotel will work toward providing a much-needed focal point for the town and its visitors.
