The renovation of a 1950’s red brick house into a sustainable contemporary executive family home on the shores of Lake Pupuke.

The challenge was designing a modern home within the footprint of the existing house. The house was designed with environmental sustainability in mind. Demolition materials were reused where possible. The house uses solar panels for hot water and was designed for passive heating and cooling.

The client’s brief was “it’s all about me baby”. Our role was to make the building process of a significant renovation fun and enjoyable for a busy family. The client was able to dive into the building process when it suited them (AV/TV system, kitchen, bathrooms and landscaping), leaving the day-to-day project delivery to our project manager.
