“Ensuring everyone has access to adequate, affordable and secure housing”

Monte Cecilia Housing Trust (MTCH) works with hundreds of families across Auckland each year to help them out of unhealthy, overcrowded and unstable living conditions.

MCHT help families find the most appropriate housing solution for their needs, whether that is short-term transitional housing or longer-term community housing.

Windrush Close provides transitional housing to families who are homeless or who have serious housing need for up to 12 weeks. During this time, families participate in wrap-around programmes while MCHT assists them in finding long-term community housing or an affordable rental they can move into.

Windrush Close is configured into six blocks, totalling 31 two-bedroom units, secure family facilities including a playground and BBQ area, training facilities for parents working towards gaining long-term housing and on-site offices for Monte Cecilia staff so they are easily accessible to support the families.

The facility has been designed to provide a safe environment for families, help parents care for sick children, support parents to get the skills they need to achieve long-term housing stability, and provide easy access to support services. The new facility provides warm, safe, and secure homes for some of the most vulnerable families in our community.

The project was opened by the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern.
