Heritage villa shop revitalization in Greytown, harmonizing new design with existing street fabric and preserving historical elements.
A heritage villa shop, located on Main Street in Greytown, required a Resource consent and a careful design that was in sympathy with the existing street fabric. We discussed different options with the owner and developed a scheme that was sensitive to the heritage pattern of parapets and verandahs along the street and also the proportions of the existing building. Separation between the old villa and new extension allow the new to be defined from the old. After positive discussions with the community heritage board, and a successful resource consent, the completed building is now an integral part of Greytown.
