Holiday Home on the Dunes

Holiday Home on the Dunes is a contemporary four-bedroom retreat shaped around the pleasures of family life by the sea. Completed in 2022, C–Architecture’s design draws its rhythm from the clients’ love of boating, fishing and cooking the day’s rewards. Living areas span the site, opening up immediate beach views and a direct connection to the dunes, while shaping a sheltered, west-facing courtyard into the heart of the home. Throughout, durable materials and low-maintenance finishes respond to both the coastal environment and the clients’ desire for an easy-care holiday home. Rather than asking one space to hold every holiday moment, the home unfolds as a collection of places to settle, each attuned to the hour and the weather. A recessed snug offers a cosy harbour away from the open-plan living area, keeping the courtyard in view while inviting a quieter pace. Elsewhere, spaces for cooking, sharing meals and gathering around a fire make entertaining feel as natural as the turning tide. From heading out on the water to bringing the catch back to the table, the design makes room for the rituals that turn a seaside escape into a family tradition. It is a beach home conceived not simply for looking out, but for living fully — a relaxed backdrop to salt-air mornings, sheltered afternoons and evenings spent together by the fire.
