With stunning views over the lake towards Mount Roy, these apartments have been designed to appeal to an international market, maximizing the exposure to the lake view, yet remain faithful to the Wanaka environment and landscape.
Critical to the client brief was that views be achieved from as many rooms as possible while still retaining some degree of privacy from the road.
Much use was made of local schist stone along the street frontage to effectively ‘anchor’ the building into the landscape. Cedar has been used extensively in the form of weatherboard cladding and slatted screens provide a degree of privacy.
A degree of transparency has been achieved with the window design and sky lighting, creating great light levels, whilst fixed cedar louvres diffuse the intensity of the afternoon sun.
Double volume spaces allow for bedrooms at first floor level to be set back yet preserve channeled views around the lake to Mt Roy.
A refined outcome to the terraced apartments experience, on a majestic site close to the town centre.
