Lauriston Park, a stunning new retirement community in Cambridge, Waikato, showcases a seamless integration of modern design and functional outdoor living spaces. Perched on the highest point of the town, the development offers independent living, aged-care, and specialist dementia care, all surrounded by award-winning gardens and scenic views of the Pirongia and Te Miro hills.
Ignite Architects, led by Todd Myers, took on the multi-year design process for Lauriston Park, with a focus on ensuring the facilities met the highest standards of comfort and aesthetics. A standout feature of the project is the cassette-style balcony and balustrade system provided by UNEX, a trusted supplier of balustrading and other safety barrier systems. Following extensive research, UNEX was selected as the ideal partner due to the versatility of their products.
"UNEX are primarily known for their balustrades, but in this case, they provided both the balustrades and the balconies, which was an ideal scenario for us," says Myers. "Their modular, prefabricated solution made installation quick and easy, and the design perfectly complemented the rest of the building."
This unified system, craned into place and bolted to the structure, not only streamlined the construction process but also enhanced the visual appeal of the development. Myers praised UNEX for delivering an efficient, high-quality product that exceeded expectations, further cementing their reputation in the industry.
