A mid-century coastal home paired with framed glass balustrades built for durability without closing off the view.
Built by HAMR Home for the builder's own family on the Coromandel Peninsula, this Rings Beach residence combines vertical pine weatherboards, oak floors, high raked ceilings and expansive glazing in a mid-century-inspired design. The elevated decks and staircases needed a balustrade system that was structurally robust, coastal-durable, and transparent enough to keep the ocean and bush views open. NZ Windows Whitianga installed the UNEX Siena Framed Glass Balustrade with a PRR handrail and clear toughened glass, with a powder-coated aluminium frame built to hold up against coastal exposure. HAMR Home went on to win Regional Gold and a category win at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards for the project.
