Heritage home revival

This dilapidated residence underwent a transformative renovation, seamlessly blending restored heritage features with contemporary design elements.

The project commenced with the meticulous restoration of the home’s original front section, reinstating its period charm in compliance with heritage guidelines.

This involved repairing and preserving historical features that had been compromised by years of neglect and unsympathetic alterations.

A modern first-floor addition introduced a master bedroom, en-suite, and balcony, serving as a private retreat for the homeowners. This new level was designed to harmonise with the existing structure, featuring a tiled roof that respects the traditional streetscape.

The rear of the house was reimagined with a contemporary open-plan layout, incorporating polished concrete floors and a suspended staircase that enhances the sense of space. A custom-formed bathtub adds a unique touch to the modernised living areas.

This renovation has been recognised for its excellence, earning a finalist position in the Housing Industry Association awards for best renovation between $1 million – $1.2 million.
