Nelson Tasman Hospice - Canopy Landscape Architects | ArchiPro

Nelson Tasman Hospice

Canopy was the lead Landscape Architect for the new Nelson Tasman Hospice facility on Suffolk Road, Stoke. The project is a joint venture with award-winning Irving Smith Architects. The commercial landscape design is derived by the idea of creating a sanctuary for the patients, their families and staff. Open spaces are made to feel restful, reflective and private through soft swale planting, sweeping lawns, a luscious native sanctuary walk, a landscaped pond, internal courtyards and the incorporation of a café, children’s play area and plenty of built in seating.

Pathways included poetry from local poets sandblasted into the concrete which added texture and added meaning to the landscaped grounds. A locally sourced argillite boulder with a carved Maori motif forms a striking sculpture at the entrance. Canopy were proud to provide landscape architectural services to this commercial project that forms such an important part of the Nelson Tasman community.
