New build in Ohaka, Christchurch featuring a unique fireplace design and striking cathedral ceilings, constructed for a family of five on a working farm.

  • Construction Date: May 2016
  • Location: Christchurch
  • Surface Area: 5,653 M3
  • Investor: $500,000+
  • Category: New Build

New build in Ohoka on a working farm for a family of 5. Constructed with a STO plaster cladding system and colour steel roof. The client wanted something special in the way of a fireplace, so Lance designed and built her one using railway sleepers which he dowelled and glued together. The cathedral ceilings in the lounge and dining were a real feature of the interior of this house.

Project Challenge

We needed to be extremely organised with materials and labour as the travel time from base to this job was considerable.
The client was unable to visualise concepts and so therefore, many changes were made on the fly as things were built.

Outcome

Very happy client who loved her cool rustic fireplace. Irving Builders returned to build garages and sheds on this property and do extension work on other houses owned by the client in town.

Professional Reviews

1 / 3

“The work undertaken was extremely complex as the house required underpinning and connecting into the retaining wall that was built. The first hurdle was creating access to the site and Irving Builders had to build a track in before the work could be started. Very pleased with the whole project and how the project was run. Great that the project stayed ahead of schedule and in fact, finished a week early.”
