The site faces north west on a steep incline to the waterfront with expansive views to Middle Harbour and Castlecrag. The house is arranged in two pavilions stepping down the site amongst mature trees and vegetation. The project required a major reconstruction of the lower living pavilion which is built around prominent trees while opening to take better advantage of the attributes of the site. Timber was used extensively to sit the building harmoniously into its surrounds while creating a simple backdrop for living. Access during construction was a challenge via an inclinator shared with neighbours which resulted in building materials being brought by barge via the harbour.

Our aim is to design site specific houses that improve the lives of our clients. Well proportioned spaces and forms which closely relate to the attributes of a site are life changing for the people who use them everyday.
Our method is to rigorously and logically analyse each site and brief and to arrange each response in an efficient and artful way. Central to the analysis and response is a thorough understanding of the client and their requirements.
