Residence 07 - Michael Robertson

A modern home, in a rural setting. The clients imagined a modern kitchen with a country twist. The brief was to create a space that incorporated a busy family life and entertaining guests, while maintaining all existing cabinetry carcasses.

The kitchen features an updated design with timeless and country-inspired details. The tall pantries are enhanced with Archant Berkley handles in antique brass, while a custom overhead cabinet conceals the rangehood for a sleek look. Dezignatek cabinetry fronts -Malaga profile adds rural character. The Dekton benchtop and splashback offers heatproofing, and durability. Gold sink and tap bring luxury.

The layout, with the sink, cooktop, and fridge, remains unchanged per the client’s request. The island boasts a Formica upstand, concealing clutter, with built-in power points for added functionality. The timber upstand creates an intimate bar seating area, for children or guests, while enhancing the herringbone flooring.

Design Statement

Back Walls:

• All existing cabinetry were updated with Archant Berkley handles in antique brass, offering a timeless yet country aesthetic touch.

• A custom-built overhead cabinet was designed to conceal the rangehood, enhancing the sleek look of the space.

• Dezignatek Carbonite textured cabinetry with a Malaga profile nods to the home’s rural heritage, adding character meanwhile making the kitchen blend in with the rest of home as if it had always been there.

• The Dekton Sirius benchtop with a Dekton Laurent splashback provides heatproofing, and durability while seamlessly blending with the home’s natural accents.

• A gold sink and tap introduce a touch of luxury, elevating the overall feel, and toning in with the rich gold veins of the splashback.

• The placement of the sink, cooktop, and fridge remained unchanged at the client's request, preserving their familiar layout, but also keeping as much of the existing cabinetry carcasses and hardware as possible.

Island:

• The Milano high-pressure laminate upstand wraps around the island, offering a modern country feel while discreetly concealing any countertop clutter. It creates an intimate atmosphere with bar seating attaining a comfortable ergonomic overhang, while enhancing the herringbone flooring.

• This upstand also incorporates power points, making the island a more functional workspace without the visual distraction of exposed outlets.

• Drawers were integrated into the island, providing ample storage while maintaining the design’s clean lines.
