Residential Sport Retreat.

Situated at the rear of a premium Remuera property in Auckland, this project highlights Game On Turf’s expertise in tennis court construction, synthetic surfaces, and integrated outdoor sports spaces. The brief was to revive a failed tennis court base while creating a versatile recreational environment the family could enjoy year-round.

The original tennis court had reached the end of its service life and required a complete rebuild. Game On Turf carried out the groundwork using its own experienced team, installing a new concrete pad extending to the outside edge of the court and up to the existing concrete block retaining wall. GameOn Turf's laser-grade paving machinery was used to precisely level the surface, while a new channel drainage system was installed to improve drainage and protect the court base.

The court was finished with GameOn Turf's 16mm Pro-Bounce synthetic tennis surface, providing consistent play and long-term durability.

A 4-metre-high pipe and mesh fence with top and bottom rails encloses the court, complemented by retractable soft netting (image, below left)

The netting keeps the space looking open and aesthetically pleasing when the court is not in use, while also providing protection for surrounding planting and preventing stray balls from overshooting. Tennis court lighting extends play into the evening and throughout all seasons.

At one end of the tennis court a GameOn Turf height-adjustable in-ground basketball hoop allows the court to function as a multi-sport area for the whole family!

The surrounding garden remains naturally shaded, where traditional grass would not thrive. This area was adapted into a low-maintenance, year-round retreat, retaining existing fruit trees, a shed and swing while improving usability in low-light conditions.

A custom mini putt and putting green was installed, featuring the GameOn Turf Precision Putt surface, as seen on the TGL golf league in the USA, with two tee blocks and multiple holes, surrounded by GameOn Turf's popular Comfort Elite Landscape grass selected for shaded environments. The result is a practical space to practise chipping and putting skills at home.
