Scarpa Newmarket

A luxurious space within the new Westfield Newmarket, Scarpa, a boutique designer footwear store renowned for its vast collection of international brands, now has space that reflects the ethos of its brand. A calm space with a neutral pared back palette of ‘natural marble contained within softly textured white surfaces’ allows the shoes to be the focal point. Geometric black and white details with ‘lineal lines continued in an accent of brass’ help frame the shoes and creates a gentle rhythm. “With retail, it is important to create the interior and shopfront as one flow of movement, a statement from the front yet flows seamlessly into the interior. Ambitec due to the various ways the application/texture can be used, including shift of tone and colour, is why we selected Ambitec for the Scarpa project,” says Kristen Basra of Spatial Studio. Ambitec polished plaster was the key material selected for the space, not only for its ability to work seamlessly with a mix of materials but also for its flexibility within a retail space. Able to add a softness to an otherwise minimal space, the polished plaster also adds depth and movement. A chalky white, Suave ‘Wan White’ acts as the main canvas for the interior walls and helps ground the subtle pared back tones of the supporting materials. A two tone Suave in ‘Still Fossil’ and ‘Natural White’ acts as a nod to the marble counter and ties in the darker ‘Shell Grey’ Tierrafino tones of the exterior walls. “Suave is our favourite wall finish as it feels natural yet luxurious at the same time,” says Basra. “We worked closely with Paul to create the bespoke texture and colour of the portal shopfront.
