The main architectural design concept is driven from a desire to a create a sophisticated modern form while using restrained articulation and material associations that respects the neighbourhood character of the area.

Inspired by the victorian rowhouses characteristic of the Toorak area, we have distilled the principal language of the existing typology and transformed it with a contemporary touch.

The tree lined streets of Toorak was also important and influential in the development of the design. A top floor envelope that mimics the canopy dappled light quality emerged as the building sits amongst the trees, merging into the streetscape.

A soft grey brick has been chosen as the base material for the design. The brick texture resonates with the neighbour buildings, whilst the soft grey distinguishes it subtly from the surrounding red bricks, giving it a sophistication and elegance that a corner site deserves.
