By DCA Architects of Transformation
DCA were involved form the outset working with landowners and tertiary providers though Master Planning, Resource Consents and eventually final building design and delivery under a Design and Build arrangement. The new Pūkenga Rau trade training facility building for tertiary provider Te Pūkenga, signals investment social, economic and educational outcomes for the provinces. The specialist facility caters for skills training in Carpentry, Mechanical, Engineering, Hairdressing, Hospitality in addition to other subjects. The striking colour Kōwhaiwhai pattern on the main façade is related to local Iwi, delivering a unique bi-cultural design element for Tokoroa. The aim of the facility is to attract and improve access to training for Tokoroa and immediate surrounding townships, thereby improving educational outcomes and opportunities for the community. The development was a partnership between Te Pūkenga and South Waikato Investment Fund Trust.
