“The owners wanted something fresh—an interior that felt luxurious yet personal, with a touch of drama,” she explains. The home’s narrow layout presented a unique design challenge, restricting significant structural changes. However, this limitation inspired creative solutions, with the team focusing on elevating the existing layout while respecting the building’s heritage and its stunning harbour views.
Having modernized the home a decade ago, the owners, avid art collectors, sought to infuse their space with character and sophistication. Yuraisha Flaxman, the Interior Designer and Project Manager, described the challenge as creating a luxurious space rich with colour and texture that would complement the home’s classic framework.

We couldn’t move the kitchen or add an island,” Yuraisha recalls. “Instead, we worked within the framework to create a space that balanced modern elegance with traditional charm.

Black steel windows and doors, paired with reeded glass and intricate wainscoting, add depth and texture, nodding to the home’s historical roots. Momo Handles’ Bellevue Lined Cabinet Range in Brushed Satin Brass became finishing touch. Selected for the kitchen, fireplace, and TV unit, the hardware’s tactile ribbed detailing enhanced the luxurious feel of the space.

“The Bellevue handles offered a classic aesthetic that tied everything together,” says Yuraisha. “Their weight and quality immediately resonated with the owners, adding a tangible sense of luxury to everyday interactions.”

With the growing range of door and cabinet hardware, achieving this level of design unity has never been easier. “Their expanded range ensures consistency across the entire home, making it possible to achieve a beautifully coordinated look,” says Yuraisha. Hopetoun Avenue stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design. Its transformation blends the building’s storied history with a bold, imaginative vision, delivering a captivating sanctuary for its owners—a space as dynamic and inspiring as the art they love.
