The Homestead
Inspired by the homesteads of old, this picturesque Queenstown residence is not only architecturally respectful of its past but behind the charming facade is Central Otago's highest airtightness rating and triple glazed joinery. This high performing home exudes authentic character and charm whilst ensuring ultimate comfort to its occupants.
Inside is modern, yet in line with classic construction techniques. Large architraves, deep sills, tongue-and-groove ceilings and visible brushwork in the painted trim were all used to evoke a sense of history. Schist features, including a fire surround and kitchen wall, help to ground the design.
The end result is an appealing family-focused and functional modern home that’s steeped in traditional values while benefitting from the latest in technolgy and building science.
