By My Little Pub
There is a time, space and story for every Little Pub and in the case of the Timsie Tavern, when you know you’ll have lots of people knocking on your pub door - you’ve gotta go big.
Introducing the Timsie Tavern, a Little (ish) Irish beauty!
Mel got in touch with us back in May and within only a matter of hours decided exactly what Little Pub she wanted and that she wanted it as soon as possible. Within the week the name was decided, the plans were drawn and the colour theme picked out – it was all locked in ready to be delivered to their Hawke’s Bay property by August.
On the 9th of August the Timsie Tavern had made its way up the country, across the cook straight and was ready to be lifted into its new home. It was a rainy day as the crane lifted the Little Pub over the house and into position in the backyard but she cosied into place nicely.
Co-founder and Director, Gary, flew up to meet with Mel & Matt and get the Timsie Tavern up and running. Once a pub is delivered all that happens is it gets locked into place, plugged into power and the furniture and glassware unwrapped and set up. Then it’s all yours to enjoy. He of course, also had to make sure to hand over the keys and have a celebratory drink with the newest Little Publicans.
The delivery of the Timsie Tavern came eight years after the anniversary of Mel's husband Matt's dad's passing—the person to whom the Little Pub is a tribute. Bill Tims, or “Timsie”, was a firefighter and a keen Guinness fan whose photo from the Guinness Factory looks out from behind the bar, keeping an eye on things.
The Timsie Tavern is the biggest platinum Little Pub at 6m x 3m. It features a double door entry, stained glass windows, a complete bench seat, a fireplace plinth and mantel unit, two door bar chiller, a 42inch TV, sound system and two showcase units filled with memorabilia. It is designed to seat 20+ people with additional leaners and plenty of standing space to comfortably host 30+ people. Now that’s a Little Pub with some serious room for entertainment!
It was truly a pleasure working with Mel and her family to bring this special tribute pub to life and wish them all the best of times in the Timsie Tavern.
The final words from Mel “We are just so blown away. Matt honestly can’t stop smiling, what an amazing tribute to his Dad. It’s been the most amazing process dealing with Brei and amazing meeting Gary. Hopefully one day we will meet again on the Little Pub tour. Thank you so much once again. Massive love Mell, Matt and our tribe xxx”
