American White Oak Applications:

White Oak has a beautiful natural grain and is less knotty than European Oak. It is a versatile timber that helps you achieve the look that brings character and uniqueness into your space. Works well in hand and machine tools and is slightly greasy to the touch. White Oak can be brought to an excellent finish as it glues, nails, screws, stains and takes paint and varnish well. It can be stained or oiled with a wide range of finished tones and is best used in interior applications such as:

  • Flooring - American White Oak is one of the most popular flooring timber choices in New Zealand. White Oak tends to be more resistant to water damage, and it is a perfect choice for areas that have the potential of getting slightly damp. It is generally well kiln dried and also resists movement under reflective heat commonly experienced in front of glass windows and doors. However all timbers will eventually reflect the micro conditions in which they are laid.
  • Interior Lining - American White Oak is a great choice if you are looking to make a statement or have it fit in with a particular style such as modern contemporary to a more warm historical look.
