This product was a collaberation between Daniel Marshall Architects and Halliday Baillie.
My clients demand practical but refined architectural solutions and it is a constant challenge to deliver a minimal aesthetic while keeping within a budget.
Hiding away the workings of blinds can be a tricky and expensive process and our office has spent a lot of time developing a system to resolve this. We worked though the prototypes of the system and incorporated them into houses that we were building. We found that using an aluminium extrusion, rebated into the ceiling and coloured to match the aluminium joinery works well as the profile ‘disappears’ into the window joinery. The ‘flap’ clicks into place once the blinds are installed, completely hiding them. We have found that not only are our clients thrilled with the result, but even our builders are enthusiastic about the system.
"We have worked with Halliday & Baillie to manufacture our system so that it can be available to all designers. I am very enthusiastic as I knew it will provide a cost effective and aesthetically pleasing solution that would work in a range of applications."
