Sitting in a heritage overlay in Richmond, the City of Yarra council was never going to allow demolition of the dilapidated double fronted Victorian house unless we rebuild the twin peaks at the front as they were. So the facade was rebuilt as per existing but with a new shiplap timber instead of weatherboard reflecting the materials of the time and to keeping a contemporary feel from outside to inside.

Due to the house built from boundary to boundary, a small courtyard is inserted on the Eastside to allow morning and daylight to filter through the house along skylights positioned one over the kitchen and one over the stairs. The open plan living flows seamlessly with the newly landscaped garden enjoying the North Light. A spacious master bedroom with an open walking robe annexed to an ensuite enjoys a long seated windows facing north and overlooking the garden but still maintaining privacy.
