By The House Company
The clients brief for a family bach to escape from city living was meet with this boat house inspired design which sits in harmony with the neighbours older style homes.
Timeless elements such as the corrugated metal roof, bevelback weatherboards and decorative louver facade all nod to the traditional. But when combined with the alfresco decking area featuring frameless glass balustrade and clever use of colour on the vertical James Hardie Stria board this design is brought into the present day.
The gabled house nestles nicely into the landscape and makes clever use of the sloping site. The foot print of the house was restricted to protect the dripline of the existing trees. Condensing the design upwards also achieved the owners brief of views from the living areas and master bedroom. Clever positioning of the weatherboard on the sides on the alfresco deck provides privacy from neighbours whilst the fameless glass frontage allows for stunning vistas to be captured from inside the house.
