It's hard to believe this light and bright kitchen was once a mishmash of dark stone and discoloured cupboards. Thanks to the team at Kitchen Link, this renovation has taken it from run-down to contemporary and coastal.

A new colour palette has been wisely put together, combining matt and gloss finishes to ensure the space was light and breezy, holiday inspiring.

The bar seating space was created to be the focal point of the central living area of the apartment, and oak veneer panels in a waterbasematt stain tone in perfectly with the new timber floors. The gloss finish on the cabinetry (Resene Periglacial Blue) ensures the space feels larger than its footprint. The LED strip lighting highlights the Silestone splash back and matching benchtop.

Colours and finishes weren't the only design considerations for Charlotte Roberts Designs to address. Storage was a key point for the owners of this holiday apartment to ensure they could holiday with ease, and clever functional hardware was chosen to make the best use of the cupboards.

The result is a contemporary, coastal room that looks fabulous and ticks those functionality boxes, too.
