Cashmere Home

The Opportunity: Candice, the talented designer at Mooi, embarked on a renovation of her charming 1940s home with a clear vision: preserve the character and history of the original architecture while introducing the refined modern conveniences she loves. To bring her interior concepts to life, Candice entrusted Modern Age Kitchens and Joinery with the full execution of her bespoke joinery. This partnership created an opportunity to blend nostalgia and contemporary craftsmanship—honouring the home’s heritage while elevating its functionality and visual sophistication. The Result:  The completed joinery is a seamless expression of Candice’s aesthetic—soft, modern, and meticulously detailed. Modern Age Kitchens and Joinery crafted the kitchen with a warm, textural palette anchored in light oak timber, which wraps elegantly around the cabinetry, open shelving, and the feature island. The joinery lines are beautifully refined, showcasing clean vertical grain patterns that elongate the space and complement the herringbone flooring. The central island becomes a sculptural moment, framed with subtle underlighting that highlights both the timber tones and the stone benchtop. The integration of the appliances is precise and unobtrusive, reinforcing the calm, minimalist flow of the space. The striking stone splashback and rangehood cladding sit perfectly within the custom joinery recess, with the cabinetry on either side balanced in both proportion and tone. The secret door to the left of the kitchen conceals a well planned scullery to serve the home. The cohesive joinery extends beyond the cooking zone into the surrounding living and dining areas, achieving a unified visual rhythm throughout. Each element feels intentionally placed—crafted to support Candice’s design philosophy of warmth, artistry, and understated luxury. The finished result is a home that feels both contemporary and timeless, with joinery that elevates the everyday experience while honouring the character of the original 1940s dwelling.
