A refined, functional kitchen that reflected the prestige and atmosphere of one of New Zealand’s most iconic wineries
Designed by renowned New Zealand kitchen designer Davinia Sutton, the brief for the Cloudy Bay Kitchen was to create a refined, functional kitchen that reflected the prestige and atmosphere of one of New Zealand’s most iconic wineries. The vision focused on delivering a space that balanced elegance, durability and practicality, while enhancing the overall guest experience within a premium winery setting. The challenge was to translate this design intent into precision-made joinery that would perform in a high-use hospitality environment while maintaining a timeless, sophisticated aesthetic synonymous with luxury New Zealand winery design.
The completed Cloudy Bay Kitchen is a standout example of bespoke commercial joinery in New Zealand, crafted and installed by Modern Age Kitchens and Joinery. The custom-built cabinetry showcases exceptional workmanship, with seamless panel lines, refined detailing and durable, high-performance finishes suited to a busy winery environment. The considered layout enhances workflow, efficiency and visual flow, while the carefully selected colours and textures complement the surrounding winery architecture. The result is a premium hospitality kitchen where handcrafted joinery elevates both form and function, delivering a timeless, design-led space that supports the reputation of a world-class New Zealand winery and demonstrates the quality of locally made, custom joinery.
