Entertainers Kitchen

This exquisite kitchen, by FD Kitchens, has modernized the home and created a stunning focal point as you enter the home. It involved relocating the old entry, which was down the left hand side of the home, to the front of the home, and also allowing enough space for a very functional new scullery.

The interior design elements in this renovation came together by the property’s coastal location. The palette chosen emphasizes natural materials, and a light, bright interior.

Beautiful timber flooring complements the timber joinery elements in the kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with Neff appliances and heat, stain and scratch-resistant porcelain.  Liquid Shell from Dekton and custom cabinetry in the timber finish reference the tones in the flooring – and the bar zone with cupboards clad in porcelain enhances entertaining.

Visual breaks in the feature stone have been created by installing a neutral benchtop, which leads through to the scullery.  Handmade clay Moroccan tiles by Tiles of Ezra work cohesively alongside the other natural materials and finishes.  We worked with FD kitchens and Kathrine the interior designer to achieve the best finish possible, alongside our clients and their selections.

We were restricted at times with the shape of the rooms being a renovation but we feel we have created a visually appealing heart of the home that anyone would want to come to dine / entertain or relax.

Luxury Bathrooms

In the main bathroom and master ensuite we carried on the coastal theme throughout. Italian large format tiles made the spaces feel bigger while adding warmth and texture in these zones. Brushed bronze tapware works alongside the warmth in the tiles and custom made vanities offer high end, bespoke storage solutions.

All our tile lines in every space have been carefully thought out, with all aspects considered to achieve the best lines as possible. We carefully placed all plumbing fittings so they didn't clash with the tile lines and vanities. This was not easy as we had set walls and angles to contend with being a renovation.

Lastly, we dropped the ceiling height so our tiles height worked perfectly, and we also laid underfloor heating to the master ensuite and main bathroom so they are nice and warm in the colder months.

The end result of this renovation ensures the home will stay contemporary, and stand the test of time for many years into the future.

Outdoor Living

Restricted somewhat with the spaces on offer due to the position of this renovation we had to put the thinking caps on to create and provide spaces that our clients had specified.

Working with the architect we created a covered alfresco area off the lounge with the required flow from the kitchen. Keeping with the coastal feel we added Vitex decking flush with the entry threshold, a large amount of seating and a generous BBQ area. Under the alfresco we have added a fan for summer and bromic heaters for winter.

We added a second alfresco off the lounge to the east so there is a nice area for the morning coffees in the sun and a handy second option if the wind is strong from the west, as it can be in October and November.

Kind Words From Our Clients

"My Partner and I engaged the services of Fairbairn Builders back in mid 2022. to come up with a scope of works for a major renovation project of our home, based on the plans from our chosen Architect, Robin Baillie of Tauranga. It soon became clear to us that we were dealing with a Builder with a great deal of experience. His knowledge of the processes to be undertaken for a house renovation project were very broad. We finalised the plans and work got underway in late January 2023. The deconstruction of our existing home was the first major works to be undertaken, and so it was, with military precision.

The timing and the coordination of required works with his team of very capable Trades peoples and the use of sub contractors was extremely well managed. During this vase of the works and then moving into constructing the 'new 'home, we had to deal with wet weather conditions, making the works so much harder to carry out and complete to the timeframes set in place.

During the construction stage of the home it became clear the 2nd best wasn't going to 'cut the mustard'. The standard of work produced was very indeed high. Jamie and his team were in constant communications with us, the clients, throughout the build. Work whether done by his team or the many sub trades involved, was check thoroughly. Nothing but the best result was to be expected, and it was achieved. After some almost 9 months the home was complete, only leaving Landscaping to finish in the New year. We can only but say what a fantastic job Jamie and his team did for us. And we must make a mention to the sub trades also involved, they were chosen by Jamie and did a great job also.

Thanks again Jamie to you, Ben, Tom, Mike and Kade. Outstanding workmanship. We can only but highly recommend Fairbairn Builders. 5 Stars ++"

Regards Steve and Louise
