Elsternwick House 2

Elsternwick House 2 is a thoughtful renovation that successfully addresses the needs of a growing family while respecting the character of the existing home. Our client sought additional ground-floor space without extending vertically, aiming to maintain the original flow and level of the residence. The design cleverly reconfigures the rear of the house by removing a section to create a spacious, light-filled open plan living, dining, and kitchen area, optimised to capture northern and western sunlight. 

The project navigated several design constraints, including the heritage-inspired style of the house and local council guidelines related to neighbourhood character, despite no heritage overlay being present. A strategic move involved re-planning the existing laundry, ensuite, and robes to minimise new works. The extension includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a separate powder room, and an integrated outdoor living area with a covered alfresco, garage, pool, and outdoor kitchen, enhancing both functionality and lifestyle for the family. The overall outcome is a seamless blend of heritage-inspired charm and modern living, delivered with precision and care.
