Nestled in the heart of Long Jetty on the Central Coast of NSW, this compact yet impactful home renovation reflects Integrated Biotecture Design’s commitment to thoughtful, budget-conscious architecture. Designed to enhance functionality and flow, the project seamlessly integrates new spaces while maintaining a strong connection to the existing home and its surroundings.
The brief was clear: add a master bedroom with ensuite, a new laundry, and a renovated common bathroom, all while expanding the back deck to create a more inviting outdoor living space. By extending the deck, we’ve strengthened the indoor-outdoor connection, allowing the kitchen and dining area to spill effortlessly into a relaxed alfresco setting.
Curved walls introduce a sense of movement throughout the home, softening transitions and adding an architectural dynamic to the otherwise simple layout. A restrained materials palette highlights the beauty of natural textures, with recycled hardwood taking centre stage in the exposed timber posts, beams, and balustrades—bringing warmth, sustainability, and character to the design.
This Long Jetty renovation is a testament to how intelligent design can transform a small home on a tight budget, creating a more functional and inviting living environment without compromising on aesthetics or sustainability.
Integrated Biotecture Design was founded with a desire to create healthy, sustainable buildings that connect with the environment, allowing both the occupants and the environment to flourish. Having had the pleasure to work hands-on with natural materials, practice permaculture and a strong interest in building science, we firmly believe wholistic design is the ultimate path to sustainability. With this we aim to create enduring sustainable architecture through biophilic design, the use of natural, healthy materials and those that have a low carbon footprint.
